Miller Grove High School Standout Named Gatorade Georgia Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year

CHICAGO (June 23, 2009) — In its third decade of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in partnership with ESPN RISE, today announced Ken Gilstrap of Miller Grove High School as its 2008-09 Gatorade Georgia Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Gilstrap is the first Gatorade Georgia Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year to be chosen from Miller Grove High School.

CHICAGO (June 17, 2009) — In its third decade of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in partnership with ESPN RISE, today announced Chalonda Goodman of Newnan High School as its 2008-09 Gatorade Georgia Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Goodman is the second Gatorade Georgia Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year to be chosen from Newnan High School.

Attention Track Coaches - New State Track Meet Procedures!

Track and Field

The procedure for checking qualifiers for the girls and boys state track meets is different this year. All entries for the state meets will be posted on the GHSA web site (www.ghsa.net) for verification following the region meets. Schools will not receive paper copies of their qualified athletes. It is now the responsibility of EACH COACH to review their school’s entries on the GHSA web site and immediately notify their Region Secretary if any corrections need to be made.
