2009-2010 GHSA Fast-Pitch Softball Playoffs

Round One of the GHSA State Softball Playoffs for 2009-2010 will begin next week with schools competing on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 and Wednesday, October 14, 2009.

Instructions for 1st and 2nd Round Softball Tournament Games

  1. Schedule and Procedures
    1. First round games will be played on Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14 at the higher seed.
    2. Second round games will be played on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 at the higher seed.
    3. Umpires will be assigned by the GHSA Office.
    4. The host team will provide the official scorekeeper.
    5. Game balls will be provided by the GHSA Office.
    6. FINANCES as follows:
      1. Ticket prices for the 1st and 2nd round games are $5.00.
      2. The "host school" is responsible for the payment of umpires games fees and travel expense.
      3. Umpires game fees are $65.00 per umpire - per game.
      4. The travel fee for umpires is $25.00 per day.
      5. The "host school" is requested to have a check for the umpiring fees each day.
      6. To obtain the official GHSA forms, go to the GHSA website "Forms" then "Financial Forms"
    7. All other GHSA by-laws pertaining to the State Tournament apply to 1st & 2nd round games, unless specified differently.
  2. Until eliminated from the state tournament within the respective classification, each team will be allowed free admission at the site in which they participate.
    1. Coaches are admitted with their GHSA coaching pass and officials with their GAOA pass.
    2. Each team will be allowed to list a maximum of twenty (20) individuals on the "Team Travel Form".
    3. Each school will be charged for additional personnel entering through the team entry gate.
    4. The "host school" shall submit a list of GHSA passes used for admittance to the GHSA when returning the required financial forms.
  3. Each school is responsible for the behavior of its coaches, players, and spectators at state tournament games. Therefore, the behavior of these groups must be monitored by designated school administers in the following areas:
    1. The GHSA Sportsmanship Statement shall be read prior to the start of each game.
    2. Throwing of objects onto the field will not be tolerated.
    3. Spectators must wear shirts and shoes at all times.
    4. Security personnel, and game officials, have the right to demand that unruly spectators be removed from the facility.
    5. Spectators are NOT allowed on the playing field until the game has been completed.
  4. There will be two (2) umpires working 1st & 2nd round State Tournament games.
  5. The host school is responsible for contacting the GHSA Office with the results of the game within (24) hours of the completion of the game. Email results to: Ernie Yarbrough, GHSA Basketball Coordinator at ery@ghsa.net and Steve Copeland (GA Sports) scopeland@sportsiq.com
  6. The Host School is responsible for collecting the paperwork and checks from all radio/television live broadcasts at the game site, and submitting it to the GHSA Office with the financial report.
