A few more patients will find their way onto Gary Levengood’s schedule for the next month or so — the byproduct of being down a key physician assistant — yet it’s no inconvenience for the founder and president of Lawrenceville-based Sports Medicine South.
Harris Patel being away is understandable.
Patel, a 1992 Norcross grad, is on the medical staff of the U.S. Track and Field Team for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, taking him away from his duties as a PA and athletic trainer for SMS.
“I support Harris doing this because it’s really a great opportunity for him professionally and I know he loves doing it,” said Levengood, an orthopaedic surgeon whose own past experiences include work with professional sports and national teams. “It gives him a depth of experience that he brings back to us and makes him a better clinician. It also gives him exposure to a number of other providers he can share with and we can use as referral sources. It’s exciting.”
