The Georgia High School Association announces its intentions to implement the “3 turn stagger” in the 4x400 meter relay. The change in the opening leg of the 1600 meter relay will go into effect in the 2015 track season. Schools are encouraged to use the race techniques at their discretion in the 2014 season. The delayed implementation gives schools time to re-mark their track surfaces and time for coaches to teach the relay change to their athletes.
In 2015, the “3 Turn Stagger” will be required for all region meets (both boys and girls), all sectionals and the State Meets.
