National Donate Life Month honors organ, eye, and tissue donors and their families, celebrates transplant recipients who have received the gift of a transplant, and provides hope for patients waiting for their second chance at life. Organizations across the United States recognize National Donate Life Month every April, and Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has partnered with LifeLink of Georgia, the organ and tissue procurement organization serving the state of Georgia, to spread the life-saving message of organ, eye, and tissue donation. GHSA is changing their logo to Blue and Green during April to match the Donate Life logo, widely recognized as the symbol of this important cause, to draw attention to the life-affirming imagery of the green earth and blue sky.
Organ, eye, and tissue donation has been a featured cause at GHSA sporting championships during the 2023-2024 school year and will continue to be in the coming year, because more than 103,000 people – enough people to fill Truist Park two and a half times –are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant today, and tens of thousands more could benefit every year from life-improving tissue transplantation.
Register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor today by visiting DonateLifeGeorgia.org, when obtaining a driver license identification, or when purchasing a recreational license through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
