Attention: Tennis Coaches and Ads
As the Tennis playoffs approach, there are a few things we want to remind you of:
- All coaches should have entered their Official Playoff Rosters on the GHSA MIS web site BEFORE their Region Tournament, or by the end of the regular season if your region is not holding a tournament. If you have not already done so, please submit your Playoff Roster online as soon as possible.
- Please verify that your Region Secretary has entered the names of the teams advancing to the state playoffs from your region on the MIS site by 9 a.m., on Friday, April 11. That is the way the playoff bracket is populated. NOTE: There is to be NO region tournament play past April 11 (the last play date for tennis). Regions can use regular-season results, a vote of region coaches or any other method agreed upon by the region coaches to determine the top four seeds, but the state seeds must be submitted by 9 a.m., on Friday, April 12.
- Reporting Playoff Scores: it is the responsibility of the HOST school to report the final match score of State Playoff matches as soon as they are completed. Please do NOT fax or phone in your results to the GHSA office, as those are often overlooked. All scores should be emailed directly to Tennis Coordinator Steve Figueroa (stevefig@ghsa.net) to ensure they are noticed and the brackets updated quickly.
- Playing dates for State Playoff Matches are to be agreed upon by BOTH coaches. The host school does not get to determine the playoff date. If the coaches or ADs can’t reach a mutual agreement on a play date, you can ask the GHSA office to decide for you. Remember that the restriction for playing during the school day is waived for the state playoffs. You do NOT have to wait until after school to begin a match,
- Each playoff round has five (5) potential playing dates. Please do NOT wait to schedule your match until the final day of the play window. That is a rain day and should be used only if you are not able to play on an earlier day in the window.
- As always, if you have any questions, please direct them to Steve Figueroa (stevefig@ghsa.net).
- Good luck and please make sure your team and fans observe good sportsmanship and proper tennis etiquette during the playoffs!
