National Meetings Show Passion for High School Activities, Need for Human Resources

Periodically, The NFHS Voice will be presented in the form of video. This week, NFHS CEO Karissa Niehoff says the national meetings hosted by the NFHS recently indicated an ever-growing interest by high school students to participate in athletics, speech and debate, music, theatre and other activities. She said the greatest need is for human resources – more coaches, more contest officials, more performing arts educators and music adjudicators.
Dr. Karissa L. Niehoff is in her fifth year as chief executive officer of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the first female to head the national leadership organization for high school athletics and performing arts activities and the sixth full-time chief executive of the NFHS. She previously was executive director of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for seven years.
