NFHS Kicks Off Campaign Celebrating 10th Anniversary of “Dear Colleague” Letter

This week, NFHS CEO Karissa Niehoff says the NFHS is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Dear Colleague Letter by the Office of Civil Rights, which re-emphasized the legal obligations of schools to provide students with disabilities equal opportunities to participate in athletics. This month, the NFHS is highlighting some of the countless success stories that have occurred as a result of this important letter through its Play.Perform.Compete.Together. campaign.
Dr. Karissa L. Niehoff is in her fifth year as chief executive officer of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the first female to head the national leadership organization for high school athletics and performing arts activities and the sixth full-time chief executive of the NFHS. She previously was executive director of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for seven years.
