GHSA FLAG FOOTBALL WEEKLY BLAST #3
EACH WEEK THE “WEEKLY BLAST” WILL ADDRESS CONCERNS/ISSUES AS POINTS OF EMPHASIS OBSERVED IN GAMES DURING THE REGULAR SEASON.
Punt Crosses K’s Scrimmage Line- Rule 6-1-6 – When a punt that has crossed K’s scrimmage line, touches a player from either team and then hits the ground, the ball is dead and belongs to R. If it hits a R player and then is caught in the air, it can be advanced by R. A kick remains live until it is muffed and hits the ground, goes out of bounds, goes into the endzone, or possessed by the kicking team.
Play after a Safety- 8-8-1-D- After a safety, the ball will be snapped by the scoring team on their own 14 yard line, unless by penalty.
Flag pull after Score- Player Responsibility- Rule 8-3- The player scoring must raise their arms so the nearest official can deflag the player. It is permissible for a teammate to deflag the player under the supervision of a game official. If the flag is determined by the game official to be illegally secured, the score is disallowed, the offending team is penalized 10 yards from the previous spot, and the player is disqualified.
Charged Team Timeouts- 3-4-3- Each team is entitled to 3 charged time-outs per game.
The Ball- Rule 1-3-1- The official ball to be used in the semifinal and championship games is Wilson 1784 TDY. TDJ may be used for sub-varsity games.
GHSA Semifinals- The GHSA Girls Flag Football semifinals will be played at the Atlanta Falcons' indoor training facility in Flowery Branch. The games schedule is listed on the GHSA website.
MAXPREPS – Schools are required to put games schedules, and report scores, in MaxPreps. It is also recommended to add your team roster.
