1. The cheerleading online clinic is up and working, and you can locate this at https://learn.ghsa.net/. This clinic will be open for all competition, basketball, and football cheerleading coaches. It will open up again (same clinic) in October for basketball cheerleading coaches who are hired after the fall clinic dates. It closes on August 14. You will need to use the Cheerleading Spirit Manual, the Competitive Cheerleading manual, and the Constitution and By-Laws to answer many of the questions. They are located on the GHSA website at https://www.ghsa.net/cheerleading under quick source.
2. For sideline cheerleading coaches: Please check with your AD to see if your school has extended the dimensions of the player's box for football to aid with player's social distancing. It may impact where your cheerleaders can stand during the games if you cheer on the sidelines as opposed to a track. Also, it would be a good idea to let the visiting team's cheerleaders know ahead of time if their space will be affected, as well.
3. Mandatory practices began on August 1. Please encourage your teams to wear masks which have proven to be effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
Please do not hesitate to email or call if you need anything.
Sincerely,
Penny Pitts Mitchell
