National Donate Life Month honors the selfless organ, eye, and tissue donors and their families, celebrates transplant recipients whose stories continue because of the life-saving gift they received, and provides hope for patients waiting for their second chance at life. Every April, organizations across the United States recognize this important month, and the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has partnered with LifeLink of Georgia—the organ and tissue procurement organization serving the state—to share the powerful message of organ, eye, and tissue donation. To highlight the lasting impact of donation, GHSA is changing its logo to symbolize how becoming a registered donor allows your story to continue through organ, eye and tissue donation.
Organ, eye, and tissue donation has been a featured cause at GHSA sporting championships during the 2024-2025 school year and will continue in the upcoming year. Right now, more than 104,000 people—enough to fill Truist Park two and a half times—are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Tens of thousands more are hoping to receive the gift of a tissue transplant.
You have the power to not only help someone else's story continue, but through becoming a registered organ, eye and tissue donor, your story will continue too. Register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor today by visiting MyStoryContinues.com, when obtaining your driver’s license or state ID, or when purchasing a recreational license through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Many of our schools and communities have been touched by those who have given or received the gift of life, and we stand together with them in their journeys. Please consider making a difference in the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donors by sharing this message in your school and community. Remember, your story can live on through others.
