This is an Area Crew that worked the Single A Finals Football Championship GHSA game in 2023. This is the first Area Crew that ever made it to the Finals Championship game.
The Referee, Terry Wingard has been a football official for 40 years. All 40 years in Georgia. He has worked several post season games but this was his first Championship game. The Umpire, Ricky Griffin has been a football official for 10 years. All in Georgia. Ricky also officiates High School softball, baseball and basketball. He has worked post season in each one of those sports. This is his first Championship game for any High School sports. Saul Melendez, Head Line Judge has been a football official for 17 years. 3 in Florida and 14 in Georgia. Anthony Breaux, Line Judge, has been officiating football for 8 years, all in Georgia. Andy Christopher, Back Judge, has been officiating football for 24 years. 20 years in Virginia, 1 year in South Carolina and 3 years in Georgia. Dewayne Aiau, Side Judge, has been officiating football for 18 years. 14 years in Southern California and 4 years in Georgia. Khenji Harris, Field Judge, has been officiating football for 7 years. All in Georgia.
These 7 officials represent three associations, West Georgia, Atlanta Area and Atlanta Peach State. These officials worked well together as a crew throughout the post season.
