The 2018 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championships were held Feb. 8-10 at Macon Centerpled before an enthusiastic, near-capacity crowd. Congratulations to the 98 individual state champions and seven team winners: Camden County, Richmond Hill, Buford, Jefferson, Sonoraville, Social Circle and Commerce. It was the first traditional team title for Sonoraville and Richmond Hill, while championship success continued for Jefferson (22), Commerce (6), Camden (4), Social Circle (4) and Buford (3). Much appreciation goes to the Atlanta Takedown Association, Team Georgia, Macon Coliseum, Sports Medicine South/Gwinnett Medical Center, US Army, Marines, Georgia Farm Bureau, Resilite mats, Takedown Sportswear, NFHS Network, TrackWrestling, Gatorade, officials, table workers, and all the dedicated volunteers that supported a successful event.
