The Clean Air Campaign issues Smog Alerts on days when the concentrations of either ozone or particle pollution -- or both -- are expected to reach unhealthy levels.

It is important for coaches and athletic directors to be aware when the air quality is deemed unhealthy and may have an impact on their athletes when practicing outdoors.

Attention: Member School Principals and Athletic Directors

The GHSA is requiring lightning detectors at all outdoor competitions. Listed below are vendors identified by our offices for your interest. Schools may purchase equipment in any manner you choose, however. Please be aware that you may need more than one (1) lightning detector for your sports competitions. Some schools' facilities are not located in close proximity and this situation could obligate a school to have more than one (1) detector on hand on a given date for concurrent competitions.
